"Beyond the Pale" by Chip Ghigna
Oil on canvas, 24" x 30"

One

Open the door
a little more
feast your eyes
on the skies

the wonder
the glory
the sweet
endless story

of all
that is
sacred
and wise

within us
without us
above us
below

the journey
the ebb
the answer
the flow

the earth
the sea
the stars
and the sky

tell us the tale
of the sparrow
and whale

of the who
and the where
and the why

nothing
begins
nothing
is done

the present
the past
and future
are one

  2. Absoutely love it, Charles! That's been one of my favourites of Chip's paintings, and the poem fits perfectly with it.

  4. Charles,
I loved this poem and its presentation on the page. Very evocative! When I got to the end of the poem, I wanted to go back and read it again (out loud)--which to me is the highest compliment I can give to a poem. I wanted to feel the words in my mouth a second time.
Chip's picture is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

  5. Beautiful painting! It makes me think of the aurora borealis. Your poem is just right. It moves and flows quickly like the changing sky. I love

    the journey
    the ebb
    the answer
    the flow

...that's a wonderful thought upon which to pause and reflect.

  8. You say oceans in that poem, Charles. And it's so concise. The painting goes with it beautifully too. Thanks for connecting it to Poetry Friday this week!
